On the afternoon of January 20, 2019, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, vice president of Vietnam National University of Agriculture, warmly welcomed a delegation led by Mr. Hidenori Murakami, President of the Japan Food Industry Association with the participation of the Japanese Embassy Representative in Vietnam, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Japanese food enterprises. Attending the meeting were also leaders and staff of the Faculties of Agronomy, Animal Science, Food Science and Technology, VNUA Center for Manpower Supply, Center for Foreign Languages and International Education, International Cooperation Office, and students who are studying Japanese at VNUA.
Opening the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong briefly introduced the development history, human resource and typical scientific and technological achievements of the university. He also emphasized the increasing cooperative relationship between VNUA and Japanese partners in recent years. To date, VNUA has signed memorandum of understanding with over 45 Japanese partners, including universities, organizations and enterprises.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Director of International Cooperation Office, then gave an overview of the current situation of agricultural development in Vietnam. She noted that the agricultural sector plays an important role in Vietnam's economy. According to the General Statistics Office, in 2018, the output of key agricultural exports such as tea, coffee, pepper, cashew, rubber, vegetables, and seafood all increased and contributed to economic development of Vietnam. Besides, Dr. Giang Trung Khoa, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, presented an overview of Vietnam's tea industry which attracted a large attention of participants.
