In recent years, universities in South East Asia and Vietnam have made their great efforts to achieve the AUN-QA standard. They aim at not only attracting students but also improving the training quality and development of the university’s quality culture.

According to the AUN-QA standard, the training curriculum is evaluated by 11 criteria including input, process, and output in a closed cycle PDCA (Plan – Do – Check – Act). The PDCA is an iterative four-step management method used in business for the control and continual improvement of processes and products. This assessment is to improve and enhance the training quality of the university continually.

From 21st to 23rd March, 2018, a delegation of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) conducted an assessment on two advanced education programs of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), including Agri-Business Management in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin, USA, and Crop Science in collaboration with UC Davis University, USA. These programs are two of 38 advanced education programs implemented in 25 key universities in Vietnam.

During the mission, the AUN-QA self-assessment committee interviewed relevant stakeholders inside and outside VNUA such as staff, lecturers, students, alumni and recruiting enterprises and visited faculties and labs of VNUA. Finally, two advanced education programs of Vietnam National University of Agriculture have been received the AUN-QA certification with high appraisal by the AUN-QA team.

The success of two advanced education programs will help to improve the training quality of Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Continuing the success, VNUA will implement the AUN-QA assessment on other four programs in 2019 and two programs in 2020. With the AUN-QA standard training quality, VNUA will continue to maintain its position as one of the leading universities in the country and reach regional and international standards.
