Objectives of the project:

1) Complete the technological processes to transfer to companies and plant breeding centers in the Northern provinces to produce good quality parental seed for the expansion of cultivated area of F1 hybrid seed.

2) Expand the production area of F1 hybrid seeds and commercial hybrid rice varieties of two-line hybrid variety HQ21, to contribute to the independency of seed sources and increase rice production efficiency in the Northern provinces.

Research contents:

3) Developing DCG72 seed production model in regions suffering from floods due to rains and storms;

Rational land use for drought adaptation in Southern Central Coast

1) Determining the drought levels for agricultural production in Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces according to three climate change scenarios for Vietnam in 2016 in the South Central Coast;

2) Identifying appropriate land use solutions for drought response in the South Central Coast;

3) Developing models for the application of land-use solutions that respond to drought with economic efficiency of at least 20% higher than that of the traditional methods of people in the arid South Central Coast;

4) Completing the cultivation process of some main crops in the study area accepted by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to be applied in production

Research contents:

1) Determining the dry areas according to three climate change scenarios for Vietnam in 2016 in Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces.

2) Assessing the situation of agricultural land use and proposing the transformation of crop structure in response to climate change scenarios in 3 districts of Ham Thuan Bac (Binh Thuan), Ninh Hoa District (Khanh Hoa) and Ninh Phuoc district (Ninh Thuan)

3) Proposing some technical solutions to respond to drought in the South Central Coast

Summary of research results:The overall objective of the project is to study the impact of factors including land, labor, capital and education on the income of farm households in the central region of Vietnam, from which propose solutions to improve income for farmers in the study area.The research did: (1) Summarizing basic theoretical and practical issues about the impact of resources on household income such as concept and classification of resources, calculation and factors affecting household income, generalizing the situation of resources and income of Vietnamese households, experience of raising income for households in some countries and localities in Vietnam ;(2) revealing the real situation of resources land, labor, capital, education and income of farmers in the Central region throughcase studiesin 3 provinces namely Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh to assess the impact of these factors on the income of farmers in the study area;(3) Proposing orientations and solutions to contribute to raising income for farmers in Central Vietnam.

Summary of research results:The research collected 300 organic soil s and litchi samples and purely isolated 42 fungal strains (denoted from N1-N42), 20 bacteriophage strains (denoted from X1-X20), 98 bacteria strain (symbol from V1-V98), selected microorganisms including 3 strains are N34, X10 and V19 to produce inoculants.220 kg of inoculants were produced from the combination of these 3 strains with a ratio of 1: 1: 1 that meet the standard TCVN 6168: 2002

Summary research results: Three antigen sources of the RYSV were produced, the plant-derived virus, the viral N protein expressed in E. coli and the polyacrylamide gel N protein; 12 mg and 20 mg respectively (equal to OD A280). The ELISA test procedure was developed to allow accurate detection of RYSV in rice and black-tailed green hoppers. A total of 20 ELISA antiperspirants was produced using antisera. Using the ELISA kit to detect viruses in rice tissue (preferably leaf samples, preserved fresh/cool within 1 week; also can detect viruses in cryopreserved dry samples (-20 ° C) stored in 2 years.

Summary research results: 1) Summarizing the theories and practices on sustainable development of animal husbandry such as concepts, roles, characteristics, content, influencing factors, experiences in sustainable livestock development in some countries and some localities of Vietnam, thereby drawing lessons for the northern mountainous provinces; 2) Evaluating the current situation of sustainable animal husbandry development in the northern mountainous provinces, thereby showing the attainments, remaining aspects and its causes; points out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, challenges, as well as the factors affecting sustainable development of animal husbandry as a basis for proposing solutions to sustainable livestock farming for the study area; 3) Opinions and proposing orienting key solutions to sustainable development of cattle breeding in the northern mountainous provinces in the coming time.

Summary research results:Currently, the total area of rice cultivation in Vietnam accounts for about 3,124,000 ha; mechanization in harvesting that has accounted for 95%, including one-stage harvesting (harvested by combine harvester) which accounts for 23%, and multiple-stage harvesting (harvesting by hand or by machine and cracking nuts by stationary crushers) which accounts for 72%. However, an arising problem is that after harvesting, a large part of straw and stubble remaining in the field, being an obstacle to land cultivation afterwards. Regenerated rice and straw which are not treated become the incubation place for diseases. The B12-13 ministerial-level project is designed with the main function of designing and manufacturing combine machines to cut stubble, minimum tillage and sowing soybeans to replace the host plant to eliminate the diseases from last rice crops. This incrases economic efficiency to sustainably exploit land areas where rice and soybean crops can be rotated.

Summary research results:The thesis collected 30 samples of indigenous cucumber varieties of H'Mong people in 7 districts of Son La province, determining the varieties with good growth and development capacity; high individual productivity and good fruit quality in the area of raw materials which are SL29, SL20, SL28, SL7, SL13, SL19, SL2, SL27 and SL16, selection of 3 cucumber varieties SL29, SL1, SL2 in Hanoi; identifying appropriate technical measures for intensive cultivation of indigenous cucumbers of H'Mong people on flat land in Moc Chau district, Son La province; successfully developed2 models of H'Mong indigenous cucumber intensified cultivation in spring-summer and autumn-winter seasons in gardens in Moc Chau.

Building a group of sample seeds of 65 popcorn varieties with quality assurance, good vitality and germination level of Vietnam Standard 10; Seed lines and samples are fully evaluated on the characteristics of agronomic, yield, and resistance, with good quality in growth and development as well as popping capacity. There are 6 varieties or hybrid combinations with popping capacity of higher than 90%).

-4 promising lines which were selected are T6, T13, T27, T34.

- Created 3 promising varieties, N1, N2, and N3, which have been tested for good results

Summary research results: The thesis has assessed the productive capacity of male boars of PiDu25, PiDu50, PiDu75, evaluated the good reproductive performance of hybrid combinations between F1 (L x Y) sows when bred with PiDu25, PiDu50, and PiDu75, determined the hybrid combination PiDu50 x F1 (L x Y) and PiDu75 x F1 (L x Y) which both ensure the reproductive productivity, growth, meat productivity and economic efficiency.

-Develop 3 intensive technical processes for 3 newly created hybrid tomato varieties.
