On December 12, 2018, AEON Scholarship Granting Ceremony was held for students from a number of universities in Hanoi, of which there were 20 students from Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA).

The AEON Scholarship has been awarded to students annually since 2006 with the hope that scholarship holders will become a bridge between Japan and other countries in the region. In 2018, the total number of students receiving AEON scholarship is 6047 students from 37 universities from 7 countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, China and Japan, among which there are 298 students from Southeast Asian countries. In Hanoi, the scholarships are awarded to 60 students across 3 universities, including Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Hanoi Foreign Trade University, and University of Social Sciences and Humanities. “AEON Scholarship” is one of the three programs that AEON 1% Club Foundation of AEON Group is carrying out in many countries throughout the world, including Vietnam.
Participating in the ceremony were Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, Mr. Asazuma Shinichi, General Director of AEON MALL Vietnam, Mr. Iwamura Yasutsugu, Director of AEON Vietnam in the North, Mr. Ishikawa Tadahiko, representatives of Vietnam National University of Agriculture, University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Hanoi Foreign Trade University.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President of Vietnam National University of Agriculture expressed her deepest gratitude to AEON Vietnam in general, Mr. Konishi and his associates in particular for granting such meaningful scholarships to VNUA’s students with excellent academic performance, encouraging them in their study as well as social activities. President Lan hopes that the cooperation between VNUA and AEON Vietnam will be further developed in numerous aspects, for example, organizing training courses for AEON managers and staff or training programs for students which are closely based on AEON’s needs so as to enrich AEON Vietnam’s human resources.

Together with its business development, AEON Group is also concerned about its social responsibility and always strives to build and promote activities for the community. AEON 1% Club Foundation was established in 1989 with the contribution of different companies in the AEON Group. During almost 30 years of operation, AEON 1% Club developed a number of programs to inspire initiatives on "Environmental Protection", "Global Cultural Exchange and Human Resource Development", and “Encouraging Regional Socio-cultural development”. AEON Scholarship Granting Ceremony is one of a series of meaningful annual activities of AEON Group, and this is the first time that the AEON Scholarship has ever been awarded to students of Vietnam National University of Agriculture.
