Each grant of the SEARCA Regional Professorial Chair Grants 2019-2020 is for a total amount of USD 5,000.00 and is open to outstanding Southeast Asian academics championing agricultural and rural development in the region.

The following are the guidelines of the SEARCA Regional Professorial Chair Grant:

1.   The awardees must meet the following criteria:

a.   Must be a Southeast Asian national, with tenure and holding an academic rank of not lower than Assistant Professor;

b.   Must have a PhD in fields related to the advancement of agricultural science and technology and development of rural households/communities (see Table 1 for Fields of Study);

c.   Must have proven track record of excellence in academics and/or research in his/her chosen field of specialization within the broad priority thrusts of SEARCA;

d.   Must have not been a previous recipient of a SEARCA Professorial Chair Grant; and

e.   Must have the official endorsement of the Chief Executive/Head of his/her institution not only on the applicant’s academic qualifications but also on his/her good moral character.

2.   The following are the Terms of Reference of the grantee:

a.   Teach at least one graduate course in his/her area of specialization at the university during the year of award;

b.   Deliver at least one public lecture on the subject of his/her research (which should be aligned with SEARCA thrusts) during the period of award at his/her university;

c.   Submit copy of his/her public lecture materials to SEARCA upon culmination of the lecture; and

d.   Submit a manuscript of his/her paper for possible publication by SEARCA.
