This study aimed to build up a collection of field isolates of Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) circulating in pigs of Viet Nam. This is the first study for development of vaccine against post-weaning multi-systemic wasting syndrome, one of the most important Porcine circovirus type 2-associated diseases. Seven isolates of PCV2 were selected as candidates for subsequent evaluations. The purity test showed that 100% of PCV2 isolates were free of CSFV, PRRSV, PPV, PEDV, TGEV, PRV, FAdV and Mycoplasma. However, there were two out of seven isolates were contaminated with PCV1, and thus were not eligible for the production of master seed. The titers of five pure PCV2 isolates were in the range from 102.00 TCID50/ 0.1 ml to 105.75 TCID50/ 0.1 ml, of which the titers of three isolates were higher than 105.00 TCID50/ 0.1 ml.

This research is carried out to evaluate the effects of ratios straw compost and alluvial soils on growth, productivity and quality of cucumber grown in pots. Agro-chemistry characteristics of materials such as pH, EC (mS), N (%), P2O5 (%), K2O (%) were suitable for cucumber growth. Obtained results show that harvesting period was generally ranged from 30 to 39 days, individual productivity collected fluctuate between 925 and 1543.7 (gram/tree). Concentrations of heavy metals (As, Cd, Pb), NO3- and number of E.Coli, Salmonella in fruits on original materials were in the allowable limits. When compared with other formulas, special formulas VL1 (100% alluvial soils) and VL6 (100% straw compost), formula VL5 (80% straw compost and 20% alluvial soils) had harvesting period was longer (39 days) with high individual productivity (1543.7 gram/tree), concentrations of NO3- in fruits are lower than VietGap standard. This suggests that the VL5 with 80% straw compost and 20% alluvial soils was most effective with cucumber in experimental conditions.

Journal of Science and Development
|
The impacts of investment projects on livelihoods and employment of local people suffering agricultural land acquisition and the challenges of the land acquisition in the socio-economic development are of hottest debate, both
in Vietnam in general and in Chuong My District in particular. The research results showed that from 2000-2010, 2,249 households were acquired of agricultural land with total area of 968.97 ha in the district. The land acquisition has contributed significantly to the change of economic structure: agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector
decreased to 22.00%, while industry and construction increased to 42.00% and trade and services increased to 36%
by 2010. However, the loss of agricultural land triggered some unexpected problems for some farmers, such as unemployment and social impact. Specifically, the change of jobs in some households suffering agricultural land acquisition for industrial clusters and parks was averagely only 16.5%. The results also indicated that the income of some local households was not changed, but some other households with less agricultural land acquisition got lower income comparison with previous period.

|
Standing to sue in environmental public interest litigation has still been a new concept in Vietnam. The related legal matters are stipulated in the Decree No. 113/2010/ND-CP dated December 3, 2010 of the Government and mentioned in the Resolution No. 05/2012/ND-HDTP dated December 3, 2012 of the Judges' Council of the Supreme Court, in which the standing to sue is vested in the administrative bodies in accordance with the civil procedure. The paper finds out the conflicts and insufficiency of the law in both theoretical and practical perspectives if the standing to sue does not extend to other actors in the civil society (the concept of civil society is interpreted in broader sense that covers both people and social groups/organizations). Based on experiences from other countries, the paper suggests amendment of the law to allow environmental organizations to engage in environmental public interest litigation as a plaintiff to recover the public interests of the whole society.

Journal of Science and Development, vol. 13, issue 1, pp. 99-109
|
A higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) is presented for free vibration analysis of simply supported (diaphragm), elastic functionally graded (FG), rectangular, plates. Functionally graded materials (FGMs), although heterogeneous are idealized as continua with their mechanical properties changing smoothly with respect to the spatial coordinates. Poisson’s ratio is assumed to beconstant, buttheir Young’s moduli and densities vary continuously in the thickness direction according to the volume fraction of constituents, which is mathematically modelled as power law function. The equations of motion are obtained using Hamilton’s principle employing HSDT. Navier’s solution is used to solve the equations of motion. The effect of variation of material properties in terms of gradation index, the effects of aspect ratios, thickness-to-side ratio on the natural frequencies of FG plates is studied in this article. The numerical results are compared with results available in the literature to validate theoretical model of the paper.
Key word: Free vibration analysis, power-law functionally graded plate, shear deformation plate theory.

Poisson’s ratio is assumed to be constant, but their Young’s moduli and densities vary continuously in the thickness direction according to the volume fraction of constituents, which is mathematically modelled as power law function. The equations of motion are obtained using Hamilton’s principle employing S-HSDT. Navier’s solution is used to solve the equations of motion. The effect of variation of material properties in terms of gradation index, the effects of aspect ratios, thickness-to-side ratio on the bending, the stresses and the natural frequencies of FG plates are studied in this article. The numerical results are also compared with results available in the literature to validate theoretical model of the paper.

Solar energy is cleanandfree of costand doesnot pollute the environment. Theresearch of solar energy systems plays a very important role that contributes to fully exploit the natural energy resources while traditional energy sources become scare. Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) control for Solar panelsconsidered as an indispensable part of the solar power system is applied in order to improve the efficiency of solar panels. This paper describedand comparedPerturb and Observer(P&O) andIncremental Conductance (INC) algorithms that were used to implement for Maximum Power Point control of Solar panels. Simulation results showed that INC algorithm had a better effect than P&O algorithm did.
