In order to produce useful products from animal wastes while reducing environmental pollution and improving production efficiency towards a sustainable organic agriculture development, a research team from the Office of Science and Technology (OST), the Center for Experimentation and Vocational Training, the Department of Cultivation of the Faculty of Agronomy at Hanoi University of Agriculture has successfully applied bio-physical and chemical technologies in animal wastes treatment to produce compost microorganisms.

The above mentioned technologies help shortening the production process of compost products, i.e. it takes only about 6 to 10 hours to produce final products. Particularly, harmful microorganisms are destroyed owing to heat shock process and useful microorganisms. This creates high quality compost products.

The products have been tested on rice in some areas in Hanoi, Ha Nam and Lao Cai, which have primarily shown good performance. With an amount of 25-30 kg of compost/ha for such rice varieties as Bac Thom 7 and Khang Dan, the evidence shows that the tried rice varieties grew very well with harder leaves, and fewer pests than those applied fertilizer traditional practices.
