Delegates from the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Vietnam and University of Geriza visited Vietnam National University of Agriculture

To facilitate the establishment of an official cooperation in training and research, on 14th April 2016, a delegation from Geriza University, the Republic of Sudan led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Warrag Omer, together with Mr. Sayed Ahmed Altayeb, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan in Vietnam, paid a visit to VNUA. Welcoming the delegates was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, Vice President, and representatives from the International Cooperation Office, the Training Management Office, and the faculties of Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy, Animal Science, Fisheries, and Engineering.

Opening the meeting, Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office, introduced an overview of the university as well as achievements in training and research, while emphasizing the cooperation with several African countries, such as Mozambique and Angola, in recent years.
\r\n
A representative from Geriza University then presented their university's history, organizational structure, and majors with a focus on the faculties of Animal Science and Agricultural Sciences, which have the potential to work in cooperation with VNUA.

The two sides also shared information about their existing cooperation and international exchange programs. A Memorandum of Understanding concerning the development of academic and educational opportunities between the two universities was signed with high expectations for joint research in agriculture and environmental sciences, and a student exchange program that would be quickly promoted.

The visit was a precious opportunity for VNUA to increase and strengthen cooperation with African countries, and help promote the transfer of agricultural technology from Vietnam to them.

Both leaders expressed their confidence in mutual cooperation and highly expected that the contents of the MoU will be realized soon.
