Enhancing staff and student exchanges between the Faculty of Animal Science and Aquaculture , Vietnam National University of Agriculture, and the Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University, Thailand

In order to facilitate the expansion of regional and international cooperation and integration, a delegation of the Faculty of Animal Science and Aquaculture and (FAAS), Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) led by Dr. Pham Kim Dang, Vice Dean, had a study tour to the Faculty of Agriculture at Khamphaeng SAEN, Kasetsart University (KU), Thailand from 4 to 13 August 2014.

During the visit, the FASS’s delegation visited the laboratory system and demonstration farms of KU, and were introduced to waste management technologies and compost manufacturing equipment. In addition, the delegation visited several industrial large scale farms, the largest biogas system, an animal feed manufacturing factory, a slaughter house, and an animal artificial insemination center, which are all modern and well equipped. Detail information about their technologies, products, and facilities were well presented to participants.

In addition to an overview of VNUA, Dr. Pham Kim Dang delivered a lecture on Overview of livestock production in Vietnam: current status, challenges and strategies to the third and fourth year students of KU.

On this occasion, the FASS’s delegation also had an opportunity to learn about culture and traditional customs of Thailand through visits to several famous cultural destinations.

The study tour affirmed a strong bilateral cooperation of the two faculties in particular and the two universities in general. The visit would open up staff and student exchange opportunities and further joint activities in the coming years.
