On 4 September 2021, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City in collaboration with Union of Friendship Organizations of Hanoi gave 25 gifts to foreign students studying at Vietnam National University of Agriculture.

 

 

Accordingly, each gift includes 500,000 VND in cash and 1 gift bag containing necessities such as rice, cooking oil, cookies, fish sauce, masks, and antiseptic water worth 350,000 VND. In addition, Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lam district also supported each international student 500,000 VND.

These are the gifts out of total 270 gifts prepared by Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city to foreigners living, studying and working in Hanoi who are facing difficulties due to the pandemic on the Independence Day 2 September.

 

Chairwoman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city Mrs. Nguyen Lan Huong spoke at the event.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairwoman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Hanoi, Mrs. Nguyen Lan Huong, said that supporting foreign students would ensure the safety and security of students and encourage them to continue their work and study in Hanoi.

“Although the gifts are not big, it is a source of spiritual encouragement, expressing the affection of the people in Hanoi towards foreign students and international friends.” Mrs. Huong said.

According to Mrs. Huong, with the spirit "fighting the epidemic like fighting our enemy", it is important to protect the health of people. Hanoi city has always been active and in time to implement drastic measures such as social distancing, vaccination or “5K slogan”.

Expressing emotion and gratitude towards the attention of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Hanoi, student Borey Koemseang (Cambodia) said that foreign students who were studying at Vietnam National University of Agriculture received valuable and enthusiastic attention, encouragement and help from teachers, local authorities and other organizations. As a foreign student living far away from home, he highly appreciated the friendliness and affection of Hanoi local authority and people.

"We promise to try our best to study well and complete the study program to step into a bright future, contributing to the harmonious cooperation between Vietnam and other countries...", he said.

On behalf of the leaders of Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – President thanked the leaders of Hanoi city, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city, Union of Friendship organization City, People's Committee of Gia Lam district who always attended to the education and training of VNUA and paid much attention to international students who encountered difficulties in the period of Covid-19 epidemic.

"This is a very meaningful task because "A stitch in time saves nine". The gifts are a great source of encouragement for the teachers and foreign students of our university.”

“Apart from the support of VNUA, these gifts would give students the strength, resilience and responsibility towards community to quickly prevent the Covid-19 epidemic and return to the normal state.” Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan emphsized.

 

 

Previously, from 1-3 September, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City in collaboration with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Hanoi had given presents to over 70 foreigners living in Hanoi who faced difficulties due to the epidemic in Hoan Kiem and Tay Ho district.

It is expected that on 5 September Hanoi will continue to give presents to foreigners in need at the University of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, National Economics University, University of Mining and Geology and in the future the local authority will review the list of foreigners in need.
