On December 5, 2023, a delegation from Guangxi Vocational University of Agriculture led by Mr. Wen Xinlian, Secretary of the Party Committee, visited and worked at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA). The meeting was presided by Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, VNUA’s Vice President, with the participation of the Faculty of Agronomy, Faculty of Engineering, and the Office of International Cooperation.
Overview of the meeting
Guangxi Vocational University of Agriculture is a university in the Zhuang Autonomous Region of Guangxi Province, established in 1942 and recently restructured and merged with Xingjian University of Arts and Sciences of the Guangxi University, Guangxi University of Agricultural Vocational Technology, and Guangxi Livestock Research Institute. In recent years, the university has achieved many achievements in education and training in the field of agriculture and rural development. The university is managed with a school-administration-enterprise model integrating teaching, research and development, focusing on internships, practice, and fostering talents to meet the needs of agricultural production, construction, administration, and services.
During the meeting, Mr. Wen Xinlian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangxi Vocational University of Agriculture, expressed his joy at his first visit and working at VNUA, and hoped to work together with the university to establish the first bricks in cooperative activities between the two universities. Mr. Wen Xinlian proposed four initial cooperation contents, including lecturer exchange; students exchange to improve professional and foreign language skills; research cooperation; and collaboration in designing 2+2, 3+1 training programs.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong stated that VNUA had a foundation for cooperation with many Chinese partners in the fields of scientific research, training, and academic exchange, especially with Guangxi province. On the occasion of the visit of Guangxi Vocational University of Agriculture’s leaders to VNUA, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong wished to strengthen cooperation, especially in the fields of high-tech agriculture, automation, fruits and vegetables, and landscape, etc. with Guangxi partner. He also affirmed that undergraduate training programs in agriculture needed to be applicable and ensure matching with reality and give students many practicing opportunities, so it could be seen that the training programs of Guangxi Agricultural Vocational Technical University had many things in common with those of VNUA.
At the meeting, leaders of the Faculty of Agronomy and the Faculty of Engineering also expressed their hope that the two universities would cooperate closely through organizing scientific conferences to share research results and seek funding sources for joint research projects, sending lecturers and students to study and exchange knowledge, research skills, and foreign language skills.

At the end of the meeting, leaders of the two universities exchanged souvenirs and agreed to discuss about a memorandum of cooperation in the near future.
