On the morning of 16th November 2019, Mr. Le Quoc Doanh - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and leaders of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) cut the ribbon to inaugurate VNUA Plant Clinic.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – President of VNUA said that VNUA Plant Clinic was established to meet the needs of medical treatment and maintain plant health for agricultural crops, urban plants, and heritage trees.

The clinic has the function of diagnosis, treatment and counselling on disease prevention; conducting scientific research and technology transfer; providing high-quality services and techniques; participating in human resource training and services which are related to crop health as regulated by the State law and VNUA’s regulations; training students at undergraduate and graduate levels as well as short-term training for farmers and staff of crop production enterprises in caring and protecting plant health.

According to Prof. Lan, VNUA Plant Clinic also provides services related to plant health and researches on products such as biological plant protection drugs applied in organic agriculture production. The clinic will perform plant health diagnostic services based on modern and standard diagnostic and testing techniques, targeting biotic and abiotic factors directly related to plant health. It also advises on and provides methods to ensure plant health for clients. The clinic’s operation is a very direct and practical contribution to the community in the field of crop production.

The hospital consists of specialised departments such as the Departments of General Crop Examination, Plant Physiology and Nutrition, Diagnostic Imaging, Crop Health Recovery, Pest and Disease Prediction, Infectious Disease (fungi, viruses, bacteria), Agricultural Pests. Staff of these departments were trained from advanced countries such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Germany.

Currently, the clinic has 20 professional, dedicated, and experienced staff. In addition, the clinic also has more than 50 researchers participating in the clinic's activities.

Regarding international cooperation, VNUA Plant Clinic has the strong relationships with many leading professors in the field of plant diseases, insects, physiology and plant nutrition of many universities and research institutes from countries such as the US., Japan, Australia, Germany, South Korea.

VNUA Plant Clinic was opened with the long-term goal of dedicating a professional environment for plant health care, stressing the importance of plants in agricultural production and also in many other aspects of lives.
