Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister of Science and Technology, Chairman of National Assembly Commission for Science, Technology and Environment visited VNUA

Attending the meeting from VNUA were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President; Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien, Chairman of Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, Vice President and members of the University Science and Training Council, and leaders of functional offices and faculties.

Speaking at meeting, Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong emphasized: "We know that during the time after 1975 and before the renovation, Vietnam was a poor country, suffering food inefficiency as a result of the war left. Since then, Vietnam has become a country with stable food security and a growing global participation agricultural market thanks to the development of science and technology, in which researchers and scientists play an important role”. 

In the situation that African Fever Swine are getting increasingly complicated, affecting many provinces in Vietnam, VNUA is one of the pioneering institution in the research, detection and prevention of diseases, especially VNUA did successfully isolate pathogenic viruses, a premise for future solutions for vaccine production.

Along with the above-mentioned issues, Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong directed relevant departments of the two ministries to make orders for the agricultural sector and suggestions to the university for taking further study especially in the fields of scientific research, management research, production organization, etc., so that VNUA will become one of the leading policy consultation centers for the whole agricultural sector not just a within the university.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan expressed her pride when VNUA received the delegation. She presented a summary report on some activities in animal husbandry, veterinary and fisheries, and proposed 13 proposals, focusing: (i) Enhancing research capacity of functional offices; (ii) Research direction of three national product groups on Cow, Chicken and Fisheries; (iii) Focus on intensive training on high quality human resources in the group of commodity products; (iv) Focusing on researching a number of specialized products, especially vaccines in the disease prevention program to serve the strategy of restructuring livestock of the agricultural sector.

After hearing research proposals by the VNUA, Minister Chu Ngoc Anh expressed his impression on VNUA’s achievements. He also affirmed that the ministry is always supportive, accompanying researchers and scientists of VNUA in scientific research.

Chairman Phan Xuan Dung highly appreciated the achievements that the VNUA staff have made "Based on presentations, I highly appreciate the things that VNUA staff have done over the past time. I personally find that the results of the research projects, the job that the lecturers have done are beyond my thinking about an academic training institution of Vietnam”. He hoped that with the "prestige" of the university through 63 years of construction and development, all VNUA staff will continue to strive and do constant efforts to make it more popular not only in the country but also in the region and the world.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh thanked the efforts, persistence and enthusiasm in the field of scientific research of VNUA staff. With the promising results that scientists have made in the past, Deputy Minister hoped this would be a premise to solve the ASF epidemic in the current urgent situation. On the side of the ministry, it will continue to drastically promote and create all conditions to support the research teams at VNUA in the research of vaccine prevention. The Deputy Minister also expressed his sincere thanks to the attention and companions of the MOST with MARD in science and technology development.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh
