Founded in 2003, the Asian Society of Veterinary Pathology (ASVP) is a coalition of organizations in Asian countries fostering the advancement of veterinary pathology in the region. It has nine member organizations representing the specialized profession in the following Asian countries - Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Taiwan and Vietnam. With the aim of strengthening the collaboration and exchanging research and education experiences in the field of veterinary pathology among the members, the ASVP’s international congress on veterinary pathology is held every two years at the veterinary universities of the member countries. This year, the Asian Veterinary Pathology Congress 2017 was held from November 9 to 11, 2017 at the Veterinary College, Hebbal, Bengaluru, India with the participation of nearly 200 participants who are professors, lecturers and researchers from all ASVP member countries.

Under the approval of VNUA’s President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Tran Anh Dao, Head of the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Director of the Office of Training Management, together with other lecturers of the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine attended the Congress in India and successfully presented two papers. 

With remarkable contributions to the development of ASVP from its establishment, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA’s President, was honorably elected as ASVP’s chairperson for the period 2018 – 2020. All members of the ASVP Executive Committee congratulated Vietnam National University of Agriculture and strongly believed that under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, the Asian Society of Veterinary Pathology would develop strongly with more cooperation programs and more research networks with not only different countries in the region but also other parts of the world.

At the Congress, the Eexecutive Committee of the ASVP also carried out an election to select the next host of the 2019 Congress, and Vietnam National University of Agriculture overtook Chulalongkorn University, Thailand to achieve the honor of hosting the 2019 Congress.

During the Congress, VNUA’s delegation had a valuable chance to participate in many cultural and knowledge exchange activities which allowed them to learn more and develop research and teaching collaboration relationship in veterinary in general and in veterinary pathology in particular. Participating in this Congress also helped to promote and strengthen the position of the university among the Asian countries.
