Implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) and Gyeongsang National University (GNU), Korea, the 4th GNU-VNUA Joint Symposium on Biotechnology was held on July 29-30, 2024 at Heojum Hall, GNU. This was a biennial conference, aiming to build an environment for exchange and sharing among scientists in fields related to biotechnology, at the same time, taking advantage of the guidance and advice of experienced researchers to promote and connect scientific research activities, seek cooperation opportunities in research, development and technology transfer.

Attending the Symposium, the VNUA’s delegation of included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Canh, Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology as the head of the delegation, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Biology, along with researchers and lecturers from the Faculty of Biotechnology and the Faculty of Animal Sciences who presented their reports at the Symposium. On the side of Gyeongsang National University, there was a large presence of professors, leading experts, graduate students, postgraduates, and students from Korean universities, institutes, and research centers such as the Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Research Center (PMBBRC), Anti-aging Bio cell factory RLRC (ABC-RLRC), Research Institute of Molecular Alchemy, BK21Four, RIMA, and LINC3.0.

At the Symposium, scientists presented and exchanged the latest research results and achievements as well as discussed new, in-depth, interdisciplinary research ideas.

The Symposium attracted attention and interest from the academic community and was reported by many news sites in Korea. This was also a good opportunity to promote the image of Vietnam National University of Agriculture and Vietnam's Biotechnology industry in Korea.

The Symposium was a great success and it was believed that the sharing of research results and the great values that the Symposium brought about would be a source of stimulation for new creativity in the field of Biotechnology of scientists, while further strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two universities.
At the end of the Symposium, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Canh expressed his thanks to the Organizing Committee as well as the professors at Gyeongsang National University for preparing, organizing and participating in the Symposium so thoughtfully and successfully. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Canh also reviewed the achievements and results of cooperation between the two universities over the past ten years and extended an invitation to professors and scientists at GNU to participate in the 5th Symposium between the two universities in 2026 in Vietnam.
