On morning September 25, 2020, the National Scientific Conference on Sustainable Animal Production and Veterinary Medicine in 2020 (SAPVET2020) was held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in association with Vietnam National University of Agriculture at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA).
Attending to the conference were Mrs. Nguyen Giang Thu - Deputy Director of Department of Science Technology and Environment, MARD and over 300 participants from universities, research institutes, domestic laboratories, state management agencies, local Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and enterprises working in animal husbandry, veterinary medicine production and trading.
From VNUA, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President of VNUA with the representatives of Board of Trustees, Presidency Board, faculties, functional offices, and lecturers, researchers, students of the Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine faculties attended the Conference.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan expressed her gratitude to scientists, managers, enterprises and individuals, staffs, lecturers, researchers and students of VNUA for their contribution and attendance at the Conference. It is the venue for participants to meet and exchange knowledge, update latest information and technology in the field of Animal husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. It is also an open forum for discussion, orientation for the sustainable development of animal science and veterinary medicine field in the context of more and more challenges and threats.

In her speech, Mrs. Nguyen Giang Thu addressed that the Conference was extremely meaningful. She shared the animal science and veterinary medicine fields are facing with the complicated diseases, environmental pollution, oil price crisis, the competitiveness of imported meat, zoonotic diseases, climate change, animal original food safety issues. Therefore, investment in scientific research is one of the most priorities of many countries, including Vietnam. Research results are vital and decisive in the development and implementation of solutions for better performance and sustainable development of the animal science and veterinary medicine.

During the plenary session, 04 overview reports highlighting achievements in research and technology transfer in animal science and veterinary medicine sectors in the period of 2017-2020 as well as orientating research in the context of international integration, climate change, serving the sustainable restructuring of Animal Science industry growth in the period 2021-2025. The Conference was then divided into thematic sessions: “Animal Science”, “Veterinary Science”, “Environment, livestock chain and other issues”. Furthermore, during the Conference, the science and technology booths were set up to introduce the achievements of VNUA in the field of animal science and veterinary medicine to all participants.
