UCC was established in 1845 as one of oldest three Queen’s Colleges at Cork, Galway and Belfast. These new colleges were established in the reign of Queen Victoria, and named after her. Currently, it has nearly 19,000 students, including 2,000 international students from 75 countries around the world, creating an international and multicultural environment (http://www.ucc.ie/en/about/history/history/)

At the meeting, the two sides openly shared joint cooperation plans on development of short term training programs and joint research that both sides were interested in. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trach expected that UCC would  support staff exchange programs with VNUA to encourage VNUA’s young faculty to pursue their postgraduates at UCC through providing additional grants for 599 and 911 program grantees. At the same time, that organizing joint short training courses and seminars with specific themes should also be taken into considered.

Strongly agreed with suggestions by VNUA, Dr. Christopher Brown said that cooperation would be developed on the base of mutual benefits.  UCC is willing to collaborate with VNUA and create most favorable conditions for VNUA’s staff and students if they study and do their research at UCC. He proposed to develop joint training programs offering VNUA and UCC joint issued Degree in the coming time as well.

On this occasion, UCC and VNUA signed a memorandum of understanding as the basis and  orientations for academic joint cooperation between the two universities.
