On June 1st, 2019, at Meeting Hall C, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) chaired the 2018 Science and Technology Review Meeting of the University.
Overview of the Meeting
Attending the Meeting were Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong – Vice President of VNUA, Dr. Nguyen Tat Thang – Chairman of VNUA’s Trade Union, Dr. Le Huynh Thanh Phuong – Director of the Office of Science and Technology, and representative leaders of the Board of Trustees, Trade Union, Science and Training Council, Presidency Board, representative leaders and scientific assistants of faculties, and nearly 200 university’s scientists and students.
At the Meeting, Dr. Le Huynh Thanh Phuong presented a summary report on scientific research and technology transfer activities in the 2018 - 2019 academic year and the orientation for the coming year. The 2017-2018 academic year has seen many innovations in scientific and technological research of VNUA, and changes in project bidding, organization and management. VNUA has established 49 R&D groups, revised regulations on management of scientific and technological activities, built scientific and technological models, and reviewed activities of institutes, centers and construction, and laboratories with ISO standards, etc. It can be concluded that the science and technology activities of VNUA have made many positive changes and achieved lots of good results.

Dr. Le Huynh Thanh Phuong also stressed the key tasks that VNUA would implement in the coming academic year as follows: (i) Continue to innovate the organizing and managing tasks of S&T activities to respond well to the requirements of practice; (ii) Innovate the operation of R&D groups towards focusing on international publication or / and creating products that are commercially viable, serving agricultural restructuring and new rural construction in the localities; (iii) Complete regulations to encourage publication of scientific research results in prestigious international scientific journals; (iv) Promote intellectual property registration of S&T products and perfect regulations on management of S&T services, S&T transfer; (v) Strengthen domestic and foreign cooperation to bid for national programs, creating a professional research environment to attract national and international leading experts to work at the university.

On behalf of the leaders of VNUA, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan praised and appreciated the scientific research achievements that the University’s scientists and students have achieved in the past year. She emphasized that "Scientific research is the vitality of the university". Therefore, Prof. Dr. Lan encouraged all staff and students of VNUA to continue nurturing their passion for scientific research, strive to improve the scientific research activities of the University strongly. She also wished that in the 2019-2020 academic year, VNUA would overcome the difficulties of the past year, publish more articles on domestic and international journals, and successfully complete all the tasks set out in the coming year.

Also in this event, there was a ceremony to honour and reward scientists and students with outstanding achievements in scientific research in 2018 – 2019 academic year.
