Welcome Scientific Attaché, Embassy of Italy

To strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries, especially in the agricultural sector, Mr. Mariano Anderle, Scientific Attaché of the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi, along with the Commercial Assistant, visited Vietnam National University of Agriculture on 26th January, 2016. Welcoming the delegation were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, Vice- President of VNUA, and representatives from the Faculty of Agronomy, Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and International Cooperation Office.

At the meeting, representatives from the International Cooperation Office introduced an overview and the many achievements of VNUA. At the same time, the two sides discussed a proposal for cooperation in training and a short-term student exchange between VNUA and Italian universities. Currently, VNUA and the University of Pisa, Italy have signed a cooperation agreement for the exchange of staff and students in the 2016-2017 school year under the project Erasmus + funded by the European Commission. Accordingly, the Pisa University will pay all the costs associated with flight tickets and living expenses for 2 fellows of VNUA study in Italy for 6 months and 1 staff to study in Italy for 5 days.

Attaché Mariano Anderle emphasized cooperation in the field of agriculture between the two countries, Vietnam - Italy, and he highly appreciated the scientific achievements that VNUA has achieved in the areas of farming, biotechnology, food technology, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, and aquaculture. The Attaché hoped that the visit would set the premise for the next collaboration between VNUA and Italian universities in the near future, especially in the food sector of agriculture.

At the end of the meeting, Attaché Mariano Anderle visited several laboratories and practice rooms in the Faculty of Biotechnology and Veterinary Medicine.
