On the afternoon of 13 January 2026, at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), the Faculty of Economics and Management, in collaboration with the Research Group on Economic Linkages and Market Development, organized an academic exchange with lecturers and students from the University of Tasmania (UTAS), Australia under the UniGo Program.

The UniGo Program 2026 with the theme of Food Provisioning for Urban Areas in Vietnam is an initiative that enables Australian students to explore life and culture in countries around the world, thereby strengthening global cooperation.

At the meeting, both Dr. Nguyen Huu Nhuan, vice dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, and Dr. Duong Nam Ha, head of the UTAS delegation, emphasized the significance of bilateral cooperation in education, applied research, and capacity building in the agriculture and food sector. They affirmed that the program serves not only as an academic forum but also as an important opportunity to promote cultural exchange and enhance mutual understanding between students and faculty members of the two parties.

The academic exchange focused on key topics of agricultural markets and food supply systems, particularly in the context of urbanization, digital transformation, and international integration.

The program comprised three thematic presentations, focusing on key issues currently facing Vietnam’s agricultural sector. Dr. Nhuan presented “Rapid Assessment of Forest Food Systems in Vietnam and Policy Recommendations”, providing an overview of the role of forest resources and forest-based foods in supporting sustainable livelihoods, food security, and natural resource conservation.

In addition, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Quynh shared research findings from a study supported by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) entitled “Digital Transformation Pathways for the Mango Value Chain toward Export Growth.” The study highlighted the importance of traceability, quality management, and the application of digital technologies in enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products in the global market.

Finally, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ly presented the current status of the beef supply chain, production efficiency, and strategic directions for improvement through research and international cooperation in a presentation “The Beef Value Chain in Vietnam and the AGB/2020/189 Project”.

The participants from the University of Tasmania, engaged actively in discussions, demonstrating a spirit of open academic exchange and collaboration.

 

The exchange program highlighted the diversity, potential, and challenges of Vietnamese agriculture in the context of globalization, enabling international lecturers, researchers, and students to gain deeper insights into Vietnam as a country with a long-standing agricultural tradition, rich cultural identity, and a strong orientation toward sustainable development. At the same time, it is likely to open up new academic exchange opportunities between VNUA and the UTAS in the future.
