On the afternoon of August 26, 2026, in Hanoi, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), welcomed Francesco Venezian Urzúa, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Chile, for a courtesy meeting. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on their respective strengths, needs, and opportunities for cooperation in education and training, scientific research, and agricultural development.

Vietnam and the Republic of Chile enjoyed a long-standing friendship and had significant potential for cooperation in the agricultural sector. The strengths and experience of both sides provided a solid foundation for enhancing exchanges, sharing expertise, and promoting cooperative activities. The year 2026 also marked an important milestone as the two countries celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, providing further impetus for expanding and deepening cooperation in the coming years.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Secretary of the Party Committee and VNUA’s President, warmly welcomed Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Chile Francesco Venezian Urzúa and his delegation to the university. The President proposed that the two sides would strengthen connections, exchange information, and share experience, while gradually identifying and implementing specific areas of cooperation in education and training, scientific research, and agricultural fields of mutual interest. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan also expressed her hope that the two sides would proactively explore areas of cooperation that aligned with their respective strengths and needs, thereby creating opportunities for VNUA to expand collaboration with universities, research institutes, and organizations in the Republic of Chile.

Deputy Minister Francesco Venezian Urzúa affirmed that the Republic of Chile was ready to strengthen cooperation, exchange, and share experience with Vietnam, particularly in areas where Chile had considerable strengths, such as modern agriculture, the application of science and technology, and disease control. He emphasized that leveraging the strengths, experience, and potential of both sides would help broaden the scope of cooperation, enhance knowledge sharing and mutual support, and facilitate the implementation of practical initiatives that aligned with their respective needs and shared interests.
