Ambassador of the South Africa to Vietnam paid an official working visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture

On 13 May 2015, Ambassador of the South Africa to Vietnam, H.E. Kgomotso Ruth Magau led a delegation paid an official visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) in order to discuss about potential cooperation in training and scholarship opportunities for the South African students at VNUA. Vice President of VNUA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Trach and representative leaders of Offices of Training Management and International Cooperation warmly welcomed the delegation.

At the reception, H.E. Kgomotso Ruth Magau introduced briefly her country to all participants. The South Africa is a beautiful and multiethnic country which embraces enormous potentials for tourism development and economic growth. She also mentioned about the long diplomatic relation between Vietnam and the South Africa.

On VNUA’s side, the Director of the International Cooperation Office, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, presented an overview of the university regarding its history, human resources, training capacity, joint and advanced training programs, etc.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Trach informed the Ambassador activities that VNUA had worked with African countries including sending agricultural technicians to some African countries and receiving African students to study at VNUA. He strongly expected that the cooperation with the South Africa would be established soon with activities that VNUA had strong experiences as mentioned above.

H.E. Kgomotso Ruth Magau shared her ambitious idea on developing a project on promoting capacity for the South African officials especially in agriculture. If the project is executed, VNUA, a leading agricultural university in Vietnam, would be an important stakeholder of the project.

Finally, the Ambassador H.E. Kgomotso Ruth Magau expressed her sincere thanks to VNUA’s leader for a warm and hospitable reception. Both sides strongly expressed that the bilateral cooperation would be quickly established and boosted.
