The 24th ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) Conference, hosted by Vietnam, took place on October 30-31, 2025, at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, under the theme “Green Accounting and Finance – Shaping a Sustainable Future.” The conference brought together experts, leaders, and enterprises from across the region and the world in the fields of accounting, auditing, and finance. This event held special significance as Vietnam currently served as the Chair of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants for the 2024-2025 term.

In this solemn atmosphere, the delegation from the Accounting Chapter of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), led by Dr. Phi Thi Diem Hong, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Business Management, and Dr. Le Thi Minh Chau, Head of the Department of Financial Accounting, attended the conference.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Doan Xuan Tien, President of the AFA for the 2024-2025 term and President of the Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors (VAA), stated that with the support and cooperation of ASEAN member countries, Vietnam had implemented numerous initiatives and programs to promote the development of the accounting and auditing profession in the region during the 2024-2025 period. These achievements contributed to enhancing the professional capacity of the accounting community and establishing a solid foundation for sustainable cooperation and integration among member countries.

Deputy Minister of Finance Le Tan Can affirmed that Vietnam always stands side by side with ASEAN and the international community on the journey toward green development, inclusive growth, and transparent financial governance. Particularly, in the context of digital transformation and the green economy, accounting professionals played a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future through data analysis, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) assessment frameworks, risk assessment, and evidence-based policy advisory based on transparent data.

The conference program included the AFA Leadership Handover Ceremony (from the 2024-2025 term to the 2026-2027 term) and three thematic panel discussions, focusing on: (i) Accounting and Sustainability Reporting – the Foundation for Transparent Green Finance; (ii) Models and Practices of Green Finance; and (iii) Technology, Education, and the Future of Green Professions, with the participation of numerous domestic and international experts. The conference offered valuable insights and policy directions for the development of the accounting and auditing profession in the digital era, toward sustainable growth. This event was expected to motivate businesses to adopt international standards, enhance competitiveness, and contribute to the sustainable development of the global and ASEAN economies.
