On the morning of February 6, 2023, the President of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, had a courtesy meeting with Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kakhramon Yuldashev on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam and discussed the contents of cooperation in training and scientific research between the two parties in the coming time.

Vietnam and Uzbekistan have a good traditional friendship with great potential for cooperation in the field of agriculture. The agriculture sectors of the two countries are complementary to each other. The two parties signed an agreement between the two governments on cooperation in the field of plant quarantine in 2011 and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of agriculture and rural development in 2011. Recently, VNUA and Tashkent Agricultural University, Uzbekistan also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in training and scientific research.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Secretary of the Party Committee, VNUA’s President, welcomed Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kakhramon Yuldashev and the delegation to visit and work at the university and affirmed the sustainable and good friendship between the two countries during the past 31 years since the two countries started establishing diplomatic relations.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan suggested that the two parties needed to strengthen the exchange of information and promote the implementation of specific cooperation contents according to the signed memorandum of understanding, and believe that after this working session, the two parties would obtain more ideas to make the cooperation relationship between VNUA and the universities and organizations in Uzbekistan to better develop.

At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchanged souvenir gifts, and hope that after this meeting, the exchange and cooperation programs would be gradually completed, which would be a premise to mark the development in the relationship and open up opportunities for extensive cooperation between the two parties in the near future.
