The Conference drew the attendance of 12 national universities and research institutes such as National Institute of Animal Sciences Vietnam, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, National Veterinary Research Institute. From VNUA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Trach, Vice President, Dr. Le Huynh Thanh Phuong, Director of the Science and Technology Office, former leaders, representatives of the Faculty of Animal Science, the Coordination Office of Vietnam – Belgium Project attended the Conference. Mass media also took part in the Conference.

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Trach stated that the year of 2015 turned the animal science into a new page in the trend of extensively regional and international integration. In addition, he highly appreciated VNUA’s achievements in animal science gained in recent years while proposing active integration solutions for animal science development such as promoting the sector restructuring, rapidly consolidating and developing livestock breeds, strongly supporting value chain added driven production, effectively managing livestock feed production, and actively handling dangerous diseases.

At the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Vu Dinh Ton, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science and representative of the Coordination Office of Vietnam - Belgium Project presented briefly the project. He mentioned that the project undergone 4 phases and currently the project was aiming at improving quality of postgraduate training and research in accordance with international standards while expanding joint cooperation with other regional and international universities. In order to achieve these aims, it was necessary to strengthen staff training, improve laboratory equipment, establish and develop joint cooperation between universities in the region, increase funding for research projects and international publication, promoting participation in international conferences, and organize annual national and international conferences at VNUA.

Reports on "Assessment of genetic diversity of some chicken breeds in Vietnam and Taiwan by LEI0258 indicator for disease resistant breed selection" led by Mr. Pham Manh Hung from the Faculty of Animal Science, "The current situation of the water environment in pig farms in Ha Noi: the case studies in Ung Hoa and Son Tay", led by Mr. Cao Truong Son from the Faculty of Environment, "The productivity, economic efficiency and indicators of animal welfare for broiler chickens: case study at Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province", by Mr. Han Quang Han from the Faculty of Animal Science, were presented. In addition, participants also visited several farms which could produce feed for their animals by themselves in Thanh Oai District, Hanoi.
