On March 19, 2018, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President of the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), welcomed Dr. Marcellus Caldas, Director of the International Research and Faculty Collaboration, Office of International Programs, Kansas State University, USA, on the occasion of his working visit of to the university from March 19 to March 23. The welcoming delegation consisted of the leader representatives of the Office of International Cooperation, the Office of Science and Technology, and the faculties of Biology Technology, Engineering, Food Technology, Animal Science, Agronomy, Environment and Veterinary Medicine.

At the meeting, VNUA’s President - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan expressed great gratitude to Dr. Marcellus Caldas for his visit and work at the university with the aim of improving the cooperation between the two universities. The President hopes that VNUA would obtain help and consultation from professors and specialists from Kansas State University, one of the leading universities of the USA, in the common fields of the two universities such as Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy, Animal Science, Engineering, Biology Technology, and Food Technology.

Dr. Marcellus Caldas showed his appreciation to the university, especially to VNUA’s President – Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan for taking time to welcome him. Dr. Marcellus Caldas shared information on Kansas State University’s strengths and achievements in education and research. With 155 years of history, Kansas State University currently has about 24 thousand students coming from 50 states of America and 90 countries worldwide. Kansas State University is one of America's first land-grant universities with 10 member colleges. According to America’s National Research Council, Kansas State University ranked fourth in the nation in terms of research on Animal Sciences and Engineering, and ranks first in plant pathology research.   Also, Kansas State is one of the leading universities in veterinary medicine in the USA. Dr. Marcellus Caldas said that Kansas State University is willing to support and collaborate with VNUA in the future.

After the meeting with VNUA’s President Nguyen Thi Lan, Dr. Marcellus Caldas continued the discussion with representatives from different faculties to explore potential fields for cooperation. Hopefully, based on the Memorandum of Understanding between VNUA and Kansas State University in January 2018, and the visit of Dr. Marcellus Caldas, the two sides will quickly strengthen the cooperation in research and education.
