Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan again to become a visiting professor at Miyazaki University

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA’s president, has been a visiting professor in the field of veterinary medicine with a focus on cross-border transmission of diseases at Miyazaki University since 2013. Over the years, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, with professional experience and enormous efforts to promote cooperative relationships with foreign universities/institutes/partners, has contributed significantly to the development of training and research in the field of veterinary medicine, and the development of international cooperations with Japanese universities as well as colleges/universities worldwide. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan was the first person to establish an official bilateral cooperation between VNUA and Miyazaki University through a Memorandum of Understanding first signed in 2005.

As vice-president for international affairs during 2014 and president of VNUA since 2015, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan has paid much attention to the expansion and facilitation of international cooperation between VNUA and Miyazaki University, in particular, and Japanese partners, in general. An important milestone in the cooperation between the two universities was that a representative office of Miyazaki University was officially established at VNUA in March 2015, which has contributed to enhancing cooperation in training and research.

Since then, academic exchanges between the two universities have been promoted through the co-hosting of international workshops, short training courses, and short-term student and staff exchanges. With her strong support and recommendation, several faculty members were granted scholarships to study and research in Japan. Regarding research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan has also actively collaborated with experts and professors from Miyazaki University and other Japanese universities to conduct joint research with a focus on cross -border transmission of well-known alarming diseases such as foot and mouth disease, bird flu, and blue ear disease, etc. These studies’ results have contributed remarkably to the diseases’ diagnosis practices and prevention in Vietnam.

Being invited to continue serving as a visiting professor at Miyazaki University serves as a motivation and also an opportunity for Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, as well as VNUA’s staff in research and teaching, to help enhance academic exchanges and cooperation.
