The conference was organized with the aim of connecting and promoting the cooperation between VNUA’s officials and scientists and experts from the Australian National University (ANU) through experiences sharing in commercialization and technology transfer, development of technology-starting businesses at higher education institutions, and proposals of some development orientations on innovation and spin-off business development for VNUA.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong, VNUA’s Vice President, affirmed that commercializing and transferring technology and developing technology-based enterprises at higher education institutions are among the important tasks that the Party and Government have to fulfill. The Government, ministries and international organizations had been focusing on developing a knowledge-based economy while promoting university autonomy.
Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong hoped that, through the seminar, experts, speakers and delegates would exchange and share their experiences on technology commercialization and transfer, development orientation on innovation and technology-based enterprises in universities, especially proposing new and innovative ways to promote technology commercialization and spin-off development at VNUA.

The conference was successfully held with the participation of many domestic and foreign scientists and experts. The presentations presented at the conference were useful scientific information in commercialization and technology transfer, developing technology-based enterprises (spin-offs) at higher education institutions in Vietnam. That was also an opportunity to open up opportunities for extensive cooperation between the parties in the near future in which VNUA would coordinate with domestic and foreign experts to support the development of technology commercialization and develop spin-offs in agricultural sector in the future.
