Vietnam National University of Agriculture has collaborated with 150 Vietnamese enterprises and 30 foreign enterprises in training and research. Every year, there are almost 500 students sent to Japan to study. VNUA is also actively initiating different programs to send students abroad to study short courses and do short-term internship (for less than one year). |
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President of Vietnam National University of Agriculture, VNUA has diversified its training programs, renovated training content and teaching methods.
In the school year 2017 - 2018, VNUA has developed 33 undergraduate training majors with 77 undergraduate training programs, 20 master’s degree programs and 20 doctoral degree programs in order to meet the demand for high quality human resources for domestic and international diverse labor markets.

Mr Thu believed that, the Government needs to pay attention to and develop policies for promoting research activities at universities and the establishment of the connection between enterprises and universities which are closely linked to the strategy of developing high quality human resources.
Furthermore, the Government should also give priorities to policies providing investment supports and encouraging research and development and trade transfer of research results. There should be tax incentives to promote entrepreneurship and the cooperation between universities and businesses.

Mrs. Pham Thi Thanh Binh, representative of Japfa Comfeed Vietnam |
Mrs. Pham Thi Thanh Binh, representative of Japfa Comfeed Vietnam, an alumnus of the Agricultural University No. 1 (now called Vietnam National University of Agriculture) regularly returns to VNUA to recruit personnel for her company. According to Mrs. Binh, currently, eight VNUA’s final year students have been officially employed at Japfa before graduation.
However, according to Mrs. Binh, the current relationship between enterprises and university is still spontaneous, without any signing agreement or clear content. “Some graduates still have shortcomings in knowledge and skills. In some educational institutions, students have weaknesses in foreign languages. Only 1 - 2% of them can communicated well in English when requested. Therefore, I believe that there should be the initiative between enterprises and training institutions. The two sides should have specific discussion to reach clear agreements. Moreover, educational institutions need to increase practice time for students, so that companies do not have to retrain them”, said Mrs. Binh.
