Delegates from Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences visited Vietnam National University of Agriculture

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Vice President for International Affairs of Vietnam National University Agriculture (VNUA) warmly welcomed a delegation from Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GXAAS), China led by Prof. He Hong, Deputy Director of GXAAS on 06 Jan 2014.

At the reception, the Institute for Crops Research and Development (ICRD), VNUA highlighted recent cooperative achievements between the two institutions for example successful investigation and pilot implementations of two maize varieties, which have been applied for approval of recognition as national varieties by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. ICRD-VNUA has also successfully cultivated melons and courgettes, the varieties provided by GXAAS.

In order to continue and promote fruitful cooperation between the two institutions, the two leaders insisted on expansion and diversification of cooperative fields. Specifically, the two sides would develop cooperative researches on such crops as sugarcane, squash, peanuts, soybeans, potatoes, macadamia, and flowers, on application of biological padding in animal production, and initiated a joint construction of an agronomy laboratory. GXAAS promised to offer short-term training courses in agriculture for VNUA staff and provide some financial supports i.e. accommodation and salary if VNUA staff pursue doctoral training programs and research at GXAAS.

The two sides highly appreciated supports of leaders of the two institutions for over 10 past years and affirmed to accelerate the bilateral cooperation in more various fields.
