On November 21, 2022, a delegation from the Center for Research and Transfer of Science and Technology in Higher Education (CETSTR), University of Tampere (TAU), and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), Finland, visited and worked at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA). The purpose of the visit and the working program was to discuss the results of the implementation of the sub-project "Development of cooperation between Vietnam and Finland on digital transformation of higher education (DIGITRANS)". The delegation included Dr. Mai Van Tinh, Director of CETSTR, and professors from TAU and TAMK. On the side of VNUA, there were Assoc. Dr. Pham Bao Duong, VNUA’s Vice President; Assoc. Dr. Do Quang Giam, Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Business Management; Dr. Nguyen Anh Tru, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Business Management; and MSc. Le Thi Bich Lien, Vice Director of the International Cooperation Office.
Delegations from CETSTR, TAU, and TAMK visited and worked at VNUA
The purpose of the DIGITRANS project is to design and implement a digital transformation course in public universities (5 credits according to European standards) to be implemented in a master's program in Vietnamese and Finnish universities. The project implementation period is from August 2021 to December 2023. On the Finnish side, the units participating in the project include TAU and TAMK. Project participants from Vietnam include CETSTR, VNUA, Nam Dinh University of Technology Education, Da Nang University of Technology and Education, and Tra Vinh University. As for VNUA, the participants in the subproject are the lecturers from Faculty of Accounting and Business Management and Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages.
During the working program of the delegation at VNUA, the two parties introduced VNUA, TAU and TAMK and discussed cooperation opportunities in training, scientific research and technology transfer. Following that, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Quang Giam and Dr. Nguyen Anh Tru represented VNUA’s lecturers participating in the subproject to report the results of the DIGITRANS subproject implementation. In general, the report showed that the participation in the sub-project of VNUA’s lecturers achieved good results. Specifically, the lecturers learned about the situation of digital transformation in higher education in the world, in Finland and Vietnam; and practiced online course design methods and tools; online teaching technology; and methods of assessing online course results.
Awarding certificates to learners participating in the subproject
Prof. Elias Pekkola, University of Tampere, and Prof. Hanna Ilola, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Finland, awarded certificates to VNUA’s lecturers participating in the subproject. The two sides discussed the following cooperation contents, including: (i) designing an online course on digital transformation; (ii) cooperation in online training for undergraduate and graduate courses; (iii) exchange of lecturers and students; (iv) implementation of research projects; and (v) access to TAU and TAMK's open learning resources.
After 3 hours of work, the working program of the delegation from CETSTR, TAU, and TAMK at VNUA ended successfully. After the success of the DIGITRANS subproject, it is hoped that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to implement effective cooperation programs in training and scientific research.
