On 2 August 2022, the delegation of the International Livestock Research Institute led by the General Director of ILRI, Dr. Jimmy Smith, paid a visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA).

From the side of VNUA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong, Vice President, Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien, Vice Director of International Cooperation Office, together with representatives from faculties: Food science and Technology, Economics and Rural Development welcomed the distinguished guests.
Overview of the working session between VNUA and ILRI
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Pham Bao Duong expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation of ILRI to VNUA show the willingness to continue the cooperation with ILRI. Since 2013, VNUA and ILRI have had a number of cooperation activities in pork value chain research, food safety practices in processing, preserving and consuming pork, corn and livestock value chains, or the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on consumers in the Northern provinces.
VNUA highly appreciated the cooperation between the two parties as well as the achieved results. Vice President Pham Bao Duong also said that VNUA is currently implementing the SAHEP-VNUA Project with a total investment value of 58.7 million USD, which is making a great contribution to improving capacity and facilities for research, training and governance. With this special investment, VNUA has potential human resources and facilities to enhance the effectiveness of research cooperation with partners. Therefore, Vice President Pham Bao Duong hopes that the two parties will continue to cooperate to further promote the strengths of the each side, contributing to the development of the livestock industry towards food safety, environmental protection, and income improvement…
Dr. Jimmy Smith also shared his joy and gratitude to VNUA for the warm welcome. ILRI looks forward to working with national partners in Vietnam and the VNUA is a reliable partner to expand cooperation. He emphasized that the two sides many meetings and exchanges to connect experts from both sides and agree on research focus of mutual interest.
