Kenichi Shishido, Deputy Director General, JICA paid a working visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture

Receiving the delegation were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA President and Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien, Chair, Board of Trustees and Dr. Vu Ngoc Huyen, Director of VNUA Center for Manpower Supply. The meeting was also honored to have the attendance of Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

 At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan expressed her pleasure to meet Mr.Kenichi Shishido and sent her warm greeting and best wishes to him and his companion. In addition, she highly appreciated the important contributions of JICA to VNUA’s development over the years. Prof. Dr Lan also emphasized the efforts of VNUA as well as VNUA Center for Manpower Supply (VCMS) in developing human resources for the country through sending hundreds of students to study and work in Japan. Those students have become an important labor source for Japan and also a high quality human resource for Vietnam’s agriculture when they return home.

The two sides also discussed the proposal of establishment a Japanese Culture and Language Institute to teach Japanese and skills for students and workers who wish to work in Japan so that they can be qualified enough before coming to Japan. President Lan proposed that JICA should send experts to assist establishing the mentioned Institute at VNUA.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Kenichi Shishido thanked VNUA Presidency Board for the warm reception and agreed to work with VNUA and sign long-term cooperation, opening up new opportunities for both sides.
