Marine and Coastal Resources Institutes (MACORIN), Prince of Songkla University, Thailan visited Vietnam National University of Agriculture

On December 7, 2015, a delegation of Marine and Coastal Resources Institutes (MACORIN), Prince of Songkla University led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prawit Towatana, the Director, had an official visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Welcoming the delegation was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Director of the International Cooperation Office together with representatives of the Faculty of Environment, the Faculty of Aquaculture and Fisheries. This was the first visit of MACORIN to VNUA in order to establish bilateral cooperation between the two sides.

At the meeting, the two sides shared general information on the development foundation, organizational structure, training programs, achievements of training and research as well as priority areas for cooperation. For MACORIN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prawit Towatana emphasized the desired cooperation activities with VNUA including jointly elaborating post graduate trainings at MACORIN, inviting retired staff of VNUA who hold Assoc. Prof, Professor titles to teach at MACORIN and jointly organizing international conferences.

MACORIN is currently seeking excellent candidates to offer postgraduate scholarships in fields such as oceanography, biology & ecology, fisheries - aquaculture, economy – social issues and management (change climate adaptation, gender issues). Assoc. Prof. Dr. Towatana Prawit expressed his high expectation to receive VNUA’s staff to study and research at MACORIN in the short coming time.

For VNUA, the Director of the International Cooperation Office and the attending faculty representatives were also very interested in cooperation activities proposed by MACORIN and looking forward to seeing those activities implemented.
