On the afternoon of September 6, 2019, Vice President of Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong warmly welcomed the Governor of Nebraska State, the USA, Mr. John Pete Reickelt. Accompanying the governor were representatives of Nebraska State departments, agricultural businesses and universities. From VNUA, there were representative leaders of the International Cooperation Office, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Agronomy.

Vice President, Pham Van Cuong, on behalf of VNUA expressed his pleasure and pride to welcome the Governor and Nebraska delegation on his mission to Vietnam. He mentioned that the university has established partnerships with several academic institution and universities as well as received various grants from US donors. These partnerships and funding have contributed significantly to improving the quality of VNUA’s training and research. He looks forward to more cooperation in research and training with US partners, especially Nebraska’s ones such as joint training (dual degree program), staff and student exchange, joint projects and co-author international publications, etc.

At the meeting, Mr. John Pete Reickelt thanked the university for its hospitality and stated that the visit was an opportunity for universities in State of Nebraska to promote cooperation with the university. He also assigned the University of Nebraska to quickly discuss and have the Memorandum of Understanding signed, which is the premise to promote official bilateral cooperation. Representatives of the University of Nebraska shared that the two universities had common interests and research concerns especially in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. The two sides can also work together to expand research on African swine fever (ASF), in order to produce vaccine for prevention against ASF disease. The governor and members of the delegation were also impressed with the achievements that the university has achieved over the course of more than 63 years of development.

Hopefully, after the visit of Mr. John Pete Reickelt, there would be tremendous opportunities for the Vietnam National University of Agriculture to expand its research and training cooperation with Nebraska partners, especially the University of Nebraska, one of top agricultural universities in the United States.
