During the meeting, the two sides discussed and shared about mutual interests and potential joint research in the fields of environment, water resource management, climate change, animal husbandry production waste management, and student exchange programs under the framework of the Program "Asia Bound" funded by the Australian Government. To realize potential cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trach suggested that the two sides should prepare and discuss about the MOU which will be signed between the two universities.

On the same day, a seminar on Sustainable Wastewater Management Systems for Small Communities with a presentation by Professor Howard Fallowfield, Flinders University Australia was held. The seminar drew a large number of participants from VNUA, the Embassy of Australia in Vietnam, and many other academic institutions and enterprises in water management and fisheries.

Professor Fallowfield is an aquatic microbial ecologist with some 25 year's research experience in the UK and Australia, designing, constructing, operating and evaluating the performance of pilot plants for both drinking water and wastewater treatment. His research focus is health aspects of water quality, which has been conducted across a range of aquatic environments including drinking water, wastewater and recreational waters. Successful research projects include the design and operation of high rate algal ponds (HRAPs) for the treatment of abattoir wastewater; construction and evaluation of new HRAP designs for the treatment of wastewater from rural communities in South Australia.

The mentioned visit and seminar would strengthen the cooperation between VNUA and Flinders University in particular and open potential research and training with academic institutions in Australia in general.
