In the morning of May 20, 2022, the delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovakia in Vietnam and Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Intra had an official working visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA). Also at the meeting, VNUA and SUA signed renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation.

Attending the meeting, on the side of VNUA, there were Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong – VNUA president, Dr. Nguyen Viet Dang - Director of Training Management Office, MSc. Le Thi Bich Lien - Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office. From the Embassy of the Republic of Slovakia in Vietnam were Mr. Bruno Hromy - Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Jan Paranic - Embassy staff and Mrs. Danka Moravcikova – Director, Office of Project and Transfer Activities, SUA.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation to the university and stated that VNUA is willing to cooperate with partners in the Republic of Slovakia in general and Slovak University of Agriculture in particular. VNUA believes that the expansion and strengthening of exchange and cooperation in training and research are valuable for both sides. With many years of experience in organizing Summer School courses for international students, VNUA hopes that the two sides will further discuss on development of suitable programs for students of SUA. In addition, the development of joint training programs taught in English was also aimed to be promoted.

In response to the gratitude from VNUA, Mr. Bruno Hromy thanked VNUA for the warm welcome, and wished that VNUA would create favorable conditions to enhance research cooperation, exchange of staff, students and other forms of scientific and educational cooperation between the two sides. He also emphasized that Slovakia and Vietnam have had a long tradition of cooperation. With the convenient location in the center of Europe, low cost of living and studying in comparison with other European countries, less restrict on traveling after the Covid-19 pandemic, Slovakia hopes to receive more Vietnamese students and especially VNUA’s students to study and take part in exchange activities.

After the meeting, VNUA and SUA signed the renewed MOU which aims to strengthen cooperation in areas including:

·        joint research activities and publications in scientific journals of both universities

·        exchange of faculty teachers and staff, exchange of students

·        participation in seminars, conferences and academic meetings, use of video conferences

·        special short-term academic programmes

·        development of virtual study modules

·        exchange of methodology, teaching materials and documents

·         preparation of double degree programs
