On December 21, 2018, the Faculty of Food Science and Technology in collaboration with the Office of International Cooperation, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), warmly welcomed delegates of the King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand, one of the most prestigious universities in Southeast Asia, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boosya Bunnag, Dean of School of Bio Resources and Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Varit Srilaong – Deputy Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermchai Wongs-Aree, Head of the Division of Post-harvest Technology.

To provide participants with more information about VNUA, leaders of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology and Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Director of the International Cooperation  Office (VNUA), highlighted achievements of the university and of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology as well. Two parties had a heated discussion on shared concerns, especially on scholarships for staff and students as well as collaboration in research.

Following that, Assoc. Prof. Boosya Bunnag, Dean of the School of Bio Resources and Technology (KMUTT) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (VNUA) signed an Agreement on Academic Cooperation between the two parties for the  2019- 2023 period in the following aspects: (1) develop student exchange programs as well as master and doctoral scholarship programs; (2) strengthen research capacities of lecturers and researchers via staff and specialist exchanges in food technology, with the initial focus on postharvest technology; (3) organize conferences and seminars on scientific publication; (4) improve cooperation in scientific research and technological transfer; (5) organize cultural, sports and language exchanges between the two parties.

The signing ceremony between the two faculties was followed by a seminar on “Post-harvest handling for Thai durian” presented by Assoc. Prof. Chalermchai Wongs-Aree,Head of the Division of Post-harvest Technology (KMUTT). Participating in the seminar were 40 staff, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology as well as researchers and staff from other institutes, centers and companies working in the field of postharvest. This was the first scientific activity, marking the collaboration between two parties.
