The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Hanoi paid an official visit to VNUA

Following on from the successful visit of Mr. Sanusi Yahaya Yakubu, the counsellor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Vietnam on May 11, 2017, a senior delegation led by Mr. Ogbeh Innocent Audu, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Mr. Francis Young Efeduma, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria paid an official visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture on November 16, 2017. Welcoming the delegation was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, Vice President of VNUA and representatives of the International Cooperation Office, Faculty of Agronomy, and Faculty of Engineering.
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong expressed his honor to receive the Minister and the Ambassador together with representatives of some organizations in Nigeria. He shared research experiences and information of postharvest technology that contribute to improving productivity and quality of some key crops such as rice, maize, and soybean in Vietnam and put emphasis on how VNUA develops its linkage with the private sector, especially enterprises or companies, in research and education.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong also highlighted the achievements of scientific research, joint training programs, advanced training programs taught in English, and opportunities for Nigerian student to study at VNUA. He further expressed that VNUA really wants to cooperate with Nigerian partners in developing research proposals on urgent agricultural issues of both countries. VNUA is willing to send the staff to Nigeria to train Nigerian officials and farmers on advanced agricultural techniques and practices. After the meeting, the delegation visited the Faculty of Engineering to see the faculty’s research products especially agricultural machinery.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development conveyed sincere thanks to VNUA for warmly welcoming and hoped that the cooperation in research and education between VNUA and Nigerian counterparts will be promoted and fruitful in the near future.
