The Netherlands Cooperative Development Organization (Agriterra) supports students of Vietnam National University of Agriculture participating in internships at agricultural cooperatives

In the framework of the project “Enhancing performance of the horticultural sector in North and Central Vietnam” sponsored by the Dutch government from 2019-2021, on December 17^th 2020, at the Conference Room of the Faculty of Accounting and Business Management, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), representatives of the Netherlands Cooperative Development (Agriterra) had a meeting with the 63^th batch of Agricultural Business Administration and Advanced Crops Science courses before the students start their internship program in cooperatives.

Attending the meeting were Ms. Nguyen Thi To Uyen - Agriterra Business Advisory Officer in Vietnam and Ms. Tran Thu Tra - Agriterra Vietnam’s Financial Officer. On the side of Vietnam National University of Agriculture were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Cuong - Dean of Faculty of Accounting and Business Management, 5 instructors and 24 students participating in this internship.

Agriterra is an organization of the Dutch Farmers Association with the task of assisting the development of the Farmers’ Association and Cooperatives. So far, Agriterra has developed its markets in 16 countries around the world with more than 200 partners. Agriterra’s field of activity is to support agricultural cooperatives in improving the business capabilities of members, improving the income and benefits, creating a beneficial cooperative environment as well as assisting in building investment plans to bring profits to cooperative members.

Agriterra Vietnam connects and supports students of the university working with agricultural cooperatives in three provinces, including Hai Duong, Thai Nguyen, and Nam Dinh. This is a valuable  opportunity for them to experience the reality, to link the theory they have learned with the production environment, and to study about the careers and jobs after graduation.

Previously, VNUA together with Agriterra Vietnam organized a training course on “Value chain analysis for agricultural cooperatives” which took place from July 8^th 2020 to July 11^th 2020 with the participation of employees, lecturers of VNUA, and members of Vietnam Cooperative Union.
