On the morning of November 11, 2020, at Hall C, the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement between Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) and the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province and Trung Nam Group took place successfully. Accordingly, the three parties agreed to cooperate comprehensively in training, scientific research and technology transfer, firstly focusing on agricultural development under the current solar cell system of Trung Nam Construction Investment Joint Stock Company. This project aims to make effective use of land resources to create valuable agricultural products and a sustainable ecological environment.

Trung Nam Group has been operating for more than 16 years with many key projects in the fields of infrastructure, real estate, and energy, in which the energy sector is currently considered as the spearhead of Trung Nam Group with various projects on hydroelectricity, wind power, and solar power. Over the past years, Trung Nam Group has put into operation 2 solar power projects in Thuan Bac (in Ninh Thuan province) and Duyen Hai (in Tra Vinh province) with the total capacity of over 360MW, along with a wind power project in Thuan Bac with the total capacity of over 150MW.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA's President, affirmed that the signing of a comprehensive cooperation agreement was of great importance to the university, helping to promote the university's training and scientific research, to well exploit and promote the existing potentials and advantages, and to promote the transfer and application of advanced and modern technology processes in agricultural production.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan stated that the comprehensive cooperation agreement also enabled new developments for the involved parties when prioritizing the use of each other's services and providing consultation for strategy development and management towards sustainable development.

The parties agreed on scientific and technological tasks as follows: Application and transfer of industrial grass growing and processing techniques under the solar cell system to produce food for cows and sheep in Ninh Thuan province; Application of reproductive technology to improve and rapidly multiply high-quality cows in Ninh Thuan.

In addition, the parties also agreed to cooperate in the research and development and design of suitable solar panel models so that high-tech agriculture can be developed under the panels.

The parties would also collaborate in designing models of spirulina cultivation outdoors or under the roof of solar panels to serve as functional food for humans and supplementary food for shrimp babies in Ninh Thuan, designing solar cell models suitable for livestock production (cows, sheep, and chickens, etc.) under the solar panel, and replicating effective models in Ninh Thuan province.

In addition, the three parties also agreed to coordinate in supporting Ninh Thuan province to implement a number of tasks in the project "Development of high value-added agriculture and response to climate change in Ninh Thuan province".

Accordingly, Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, Trung Nam Group, and VNUA will select suitable tasks in the overall project and collaborate in completing these tasks to best exploit the resources of each party and the advantages of the arid sub-climate to develop agriculture and rural areas both economically and socially and especially to effectively respond to climate change of Ninh Thuan province; and gradually facilitate an effective and sustainable development of Ninh Thuan's agriculture.
