In implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) and the China Institute for Development Strategy and Global Agriculture (CIDGA), China Agricultural University, on June 16, 2026, VNUA and China Agricultural University jointly organized the launching ceremony of the collaborative programs “Studies on China’s Rural Transformation” and “Country and Regional Studies”. The event marked a new milestone in the cooperative relationship between VNUA and China Agricultural University, contributing to promoting academic exchange, enhancing mutual understanding, and strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and China.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Luo Yaoguang, Education Counselor at the Embassy of China in Vietnam; Prof. Xu Xiuli, Dean of the China Institute for Development Strategy and Global Agriculture (CIDGA); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Tiep, VNUA’s Vice President; Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien, Chairman of the University’s Council for Science and Training; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Long, Head of the International Cooperation Office; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Hien, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management; leaders of various functional units; and a large number of scientists, lecturers, and students from both universities.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Tiep, VNUA’s Vice President, emphasized the significance of launching the collaborative programs “Studies on China’s Rural Transformation” and “Country and Regional Studies” between VNUA and China Agricultural University. He noted that the initiative represented not only an important milestone in the partnership between the two leading agricultural institutions, but also a shared commitment to advancing scientific research, fostering innovation, and enhancing the quality of education and training in response to the growing demands of international integration.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Tiep highlighted that, by leveraging the respective strengths of both institutions, the partnership would create favourable conditions for scientists, academics, and students to expand academic exchanges, share research experiences, and strengthen international collaboration. It would also provide opportunities for the two universities to jointly conduct research on agricultural and rural development, as well as digital transformation in agriculture. VNUA expected that these programs would serve as a foundation for a wide range of practical cooperative activities, contributing to the enhancement of the two institutions’ academic standing and supporting sustainable agricultural development in both countries.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Mr. Luo Yaoguang, Education Counselor at the Embassy of China in Vietnam, highly appreciated the close cooperation between VNUA and China Agricultural University in implementing joint research programs. He expressed his hope that the two institutions would achieve substantial outcomes in faculty and student exchanges, the training of high-quality human resources, academic exchanges, field studies, and research on rural revitalization. He particularly emphasized the importance of research and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in support of modern agricultural development. He further noted that these collaborative efforts could serve as a model of practical and effective cooperation between higher education institutions in China and Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Xu Xiuli, Dean of the China Institute for Development Strategy and Global Agriculture (CIDGA), stated that the launch of these programs marked the official beginning of a process of mutual learning, joint exploration, and collaborative research in the fields of agriculture and rural development, while promoting development initiatives with positive impacts on local communities. She also affirmed that as long as both sides continued to uphold mutual trust and maintain an open spirit of cooperation, the partnership would undoubtedly deepen and yield meaningful and tangible results in the coming years.

As part of the program, the two universities introduced key areas of cooperation aimed at strengthening collaboration in education and training, scientific research, and student exchange.
