On January 9 and 10, 2021, at Hoa Lac High-tech Park, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) participated in the 2021 Vietnam International Innovation Expo – VIIE 2021 and the kicked off event of the National Innovation Center (NIC) construction project. This is the first international exhibition of innovation hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information and Communication, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Ministry of Education and Training.

The exhibition affirms the constructive role of the Vietnamese Government, in which the MPI is the pioneer in mobilizing resources and connecting the actors of the innovation ecosystem to boost the growth on the basis of science and technology and innovation, making Vietnam a destination for regional and international innovation.

Coming to this year’s exhibition, VNUA brought many innovative projects, smart agricultural solutions, and agricultural products, etc. They are the outstanding research achievements of the leading scientists of VNUA. The products created a lot of strong imprints, becoming the “attraction point” of the 2021 VIIE event. In particular, VNUA’s booths were also in the top 10 innovation booths of the event this year.

In the framework of the program, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – Secretary of Party Committee, President of VNUA participated in the fifth seminar entitled “Youth- Motivation of National Innovation”. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lan said, “If we do not have innovation, science, and technology, it would be difficult to promote and create a “breakthrough” for the developing economy”.

VNUA identifies that supporting students, young people and staffs in the development of innovation is an important political task and a top priority. VNUA has pioneered and hosted the Innovative Agriculture Startup program for young people and students from universities and colleges nationwide to participate. Many projects have developed from the program into enterprises, bringing benefits to the community; creating jobs and income for thousands of local workers, creating a great resonance in society such as the project of Bo Duoc Shan Tea, H’Mong Chicken farm, etc.

In addition, VNUA has established an Agricultural Innovation Center to incubate technology and technology businesses, develop a spin-off technology-derived enterprise model and develop a big data center, gradually forming a start-up ecosystem at the university following the model of advanced universities in the World.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan said that the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship is pervasive in all activities of VNUA from training, scientific research to technology transfer so that all the staff and students are fully aware of the importance of innovation, through specific strategies, thinking and actions.
