On January 17th, 2019, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) and Mr. Wuttiboon Faamnauypol, General Director of ESRI Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Esri VN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University and Esri VN. The representative leader of the International Cooperation Office, the leaders and lecturers of the Faculty of Land Management, the focal unit implementing the cooperation program under the MoU also joined the signing ceremony.

At the signing ceremony, President Nguyen Thi Lan and Mr. Wuttiboon Faamnauypol expressed their gratefulness and appreciation for this cooperation. The two sides hoped that the MoU would be the premise for a close cooperation and will expand their relationship on their advantageous fields. On this occasion, President Nguyen Thi Lan would like to invite Mr. Wuttiboon Faamnauypol to be a visiting lecturer at the University.
Under the framework of the MoU, Esri VN will provide VNUA with the latest version of Geographic Information System (GIS) software for 3 years. The program will continue after this period if there are positive results from this cooperation. Esri VN will also provide from basic to advanced courses for lecturers, students, and researchers of the University, support and collaborate with faculties, researchers, and students to build specialized applications and provide materials for research and learning. To implement this program, the University will set up a program implementation group, prepare a computer room, and nominate a main focal point to coordinate with Esri VN’s experts in (i) Implementing a program which includes the management of the license, software installation, technical support for departments, staff, and students during their use of software (ii) Building research projects and specialized applications for faculties (iii) Developing specialized lessons for students, and (iv) Organizing annual review workshops. The University assigned the Faculty of Land Management to be a focal unit for the implementation of the signed activities.

Following the signing ceremony, the two sides introduced an overview of their history, development process, and working fields. Hopefully, the two sides will coordinate closely to implement the cooperation program effectively in order to expand cooperation in research and training, especially in the application of GIS technology in agriculture..
