Vietnam National University of Agriculture supports Thu Thien Hue province to promote sustainable agriculture development

Continuing to promote activities to support sustainable agricultural economic development in Thua Thien Hue province was the main discussion at the meeting between People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province (Thua Thien Hue PPC) and Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) on the morning of February 10. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Thua Thien Hue PPC, Head of the National Assembly Delegation at Thua Thien Hue, Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho; Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue PPC, Mr Nguyen Van Phuong; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA President.

In order to boost cooperation on training, scientific research and technology transfer between VNUA and Thua Thien Hue PPC, over the past time, many activities have been implemented including developing various projects namely "Assessing the potential and proposing integrated solutions to develop agricultural economy linking with culture and tourism in Thua Thien Hue province"; "Promoting agricultural economy in Thua Thien Hue towards green and sustainable development"; “Building master plan of Thua Thien Hue province in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050”

As stated by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Thua Thien Hue is one of few localities that processes favorable conditions to develop sustainable, safe and high-tech agriculture, therefore, VNUA really wants to promote cooperative activities to enhance the development of local agriculture, contributing to the overall economic and social development of Thua Thien Hue Province.

Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho highly appreciated the cooperation and support of VNUA and expected that VNUA will continue to be the key consultancy unit for the province on agricultural development, restructuring the province's agricultural economy towards increasing added value and sustainable development.

Directing a number of key tasks in the coming time, he proposed continuing effective cooperation program between VNUA and Thua Thien Hue PPC. In particular, it is necessary to focus on completing the development planning of agricultural and forestry production linking with culture and tourism in the province; assessing the specific genetic resources of plants and animals of Hue potential for economic development; training human resources and improving scientific and technological capacity in the province; quickly complete the project "Capacity building and technical assistance to develop hi-tech agriculture in Thua Thien Hue"
