On the afternoon of April 7, 2023, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) cooperated with the Department of Education and Training of Phu Tho province to organize a conference on "Startup journey from high school". Attending the conference were managers, scientists, experts in the field of entrepreneurship, leaders, teachers and students of high schools in Phu Tho province. The conference was held in person at Viet Tri High School in combination with online form on the Zoom Meetings platform.

Delivering the opening speech of the conference, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, VNUA’s Deputy Secretary and Vice President, affirmed that, in the context of the industrial revolution 4.0, innovation and start-up activities were one of the driving forces for development of innovative technology products, meeting the requirements of the society.
Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong said that, “Implementing the policy of the Party and State, VNUA pays special attention to start-ups. Since 2014, the university has hosted the Innovation Startup Contest which attracted more than 1,250 startup projects from hundreds of participating universities, colleges, high schools and localities. The 9-year journey with 5 first prizes of the National Startup Competition; many other awards; Many ideas and projects after the competition have developed into prestigious businesses in the youth startup community, thereby partly affirming the creativity, passion and success of VNUA’s students with the startup movement”.

With the desire to create a forum to connect entrepreneurship activities between high schools, universities and businesses, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong hoped that, this was not only an opportunity for managers and experts to share their start-up experiences and typical lessons on innovation in high schools and universities, but also a chance to form and connect a network of scientists and research experts on innovation startups at various ministries, branches, localities, universities and high schools, serving as a foundation for the development of the national innovation startup ecosystem.

Speaking at the conference, Meritorious teacher, Mr. Phung Quoc Lap, Vice Director of the Department of Education and Training of Phu Tho province, said that the conference was one of the cooperation activities between VNUA and Phu Tho Provincial Department of Education and Training, with the participation of speakers with extensive experiences in education and entrepreneurship, helping to equip students with useful knowledge, fueling their passions, and being a successful launch pad for high school students with creative ideas and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship in Phu Tho province.
Meritorious teacher Phung Quoc Lap affirmed that VNUA was a prestigious, multidisciplinary training university that meets international training standards, with good training quality, high employment rate, with a variety of training disciplines such as technology, engineering, logistics, information technology, economics, and accounting, etc. At the university, special attention was paid to soft skills and entrepreneurship. Meritorious teacher Phung Quoc Lap suggested that, in the coming time, VNUA would continue to implement further activities for students of Phu Tho province, especially in startup ideas and scientific research. He also proposed that VNUA would closely cooperate to receive students from the province who had aspirations and passion for starting a business for innovative science and technology and a green and clean agriculture.

Delivering the closing speech of the conference, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Cuong, VNUA’s Vice President, expressed his deep gratitude to the speakers, managers, and participants for their valuable comments and contributions to the conference. Through this program, VNUA hoped to work with high school teachers and students across the country to shed more light on the impact of entrepreneurship and innovation for the schools, thereby promoting other cooperative activities between high schools and universities, further promoting the participation of managers, experts, entrepreneurs with innovative start-ups in high schools, thereby developing and implementing attracting policies comprehensively and systematically, serving the development of the society.
