In his remarks, Minister Cao Duc Phat emphasized that Vietnam National University of Agriculture (new name of Hanoi University of Agriculture) with its new status must develop to become a regionally recognized university. He accordingly urged the university to complete proposals on its organizational structure, functions and tasks for official approval by MARD so that it can work stably and quickly accommodate to activities of the Ministry.

The Minister called for more practical researches on  restructure of the agricultural sector to help farmers to produce more efficiently and greater focus on training human resources for such key fields as animal production, veterinary medicine, horticulture, and especially aquaculture. He added that in order to realize these tasks, it is crucial to establish close conjunction with ministerial agencies and units.

"I feel and understand the concern of the lecturers with farmers. I highly appreciate your contribution to the development of agriculture and the rural areas as well as the wellbeing of the farmers. I strongly believe that you are all likely to continue striving for such notable contribution” he said.

The Minister stressed that the transfer of Hanoi University of Agriculture from MOET to MARD with the new name, Vietnam National University of Agriculture,  is to strengthen forces for MARD and promote agricultural restructure and new rural development.”

Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien, HUA Rector informed the Minister that the university is offering both academic and profession oriented training programs. He asserted that to fulfill the assigned tasks, the university needs guidance and direction from the Ministry. He further requested the Ministry to propose to the Government for soon granting autonomy to the university.

On behalf of HUA, the Rector extended sincere thanks to his honorable Minister Cao Duc Phat and strongly believed in HUA’s excellent performance of its assigned tasks. HUA/VNUA would probably strive to promote social need driven training, scientific research  and technological transfer.
