On the threshold of undergraduate and associate enrollment for 2016, many students and their families are wondering about future careers for themselves or their children, as usual. Should I stop after high school graduation or proceed further with a university degree to have more opportunities to succeed are the questions asked by each candidate and his/her family. In March 2014, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed a decision to upgrade Hanoi University of Agriculture to Vietnam National University of Agriculture. This experience encouraged the process of building and developing as the scale of training, staff, and facilities of the university keeps growing. The university now has 14 faculties and many centers for training, education, and scientific research for staff, lecturers, and students. In order to enhance understanding and seek cooperation opportunities in the fields of agriculture and fisheries, on 15th April, Prof. Akio Fuji, Vice President of Fukuyama University in Japan, together with Mr. Hiroyuki Ogawa, CEO, Advisor at Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in Japan – Japanese Association, Vietnam, had an official visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Welcoming the delegates were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, President of VNUA, and representatives from the International Cooperation Office and the Faculty of Fisheries.Opening the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan introduced an overview of VNUA as well as the achievements in cooperation in training and scientific research between VNUA and Japanese partners in recent years. She also hoped to strengthen the relationship between two countries in the future. In regard to fisheries, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan affirmed its importance in Vietnam and desired support from Fukuyama University for the development of the fisheries faculty.
