Developing cooperation with Incheon National University, South Korea

Following the visit to Incheon National University, South Korea by the delegation of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) in early July, on July 10, 2019, the Global Language Institute, Incheon National University (INU) led by Mr. Lee Sang Jun - Director of the Institute visited VNUA.  Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – President of VNUA together with representatives of leaders and officials of the International Cooperation Office and VNUA Center for Manpower Supply (VCMS) received the INU delegation.

Two universities reviewed the cooperation results in academic year 2018 and discussed the plan for academic year 2019

At the meeting, the two universities reviewed and evaluated the cooperation results obtained in the past. Last year, VNUA and INU officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on (i) exchanges of students, staff, and experts; (ii) academic exchanges, exchanges of research materials, publications; and (iii) collaboration in organizing programs, conferences and seminars. Especially, INU has opened a Foreign branch school of Korean language institute of INU at VNUA, to promote training cooperation activities between the two universities. Thanks to this partnership, in the academic year 2018, VCMS has sent 29 students to study at INU. VCMS has also successfully organized the Job Fair 2018 for VNUA’s students and high school students in Hanoi.

These positive cooperation results are the motivation for the two universities to strengthen their partnerships in the academic year 2019 -2020. There was an exchange program for INU’s volunteers in four days in January 2019 which included a series of cultural exchange programs such as Korean-Vietnamese language exchange, practicing traditional painting and Korean popular music, trying on Korean traditional attires, and making handicrafts. Korean students also learned about VNUA and visited some traditional villages of Vietnam. Students from INU and VNUA also planned some football friendlies and book and Korean language material donation in the future. In addition, the two universities also agreed to continue promoting cooperative activities on i) defining the position and specific tasks and assignments for the Foreign branch school of Korean language institute, ii) receiving Korean students for training courses, iii) sending Korean lecturers to Vietnam to teach Korean at the institute, iv ) awarding scholarships to support VNUA students; v) exchanging students on other cultural and sports exchange programs. The contents of this cooperation will be further promoted by INU and VNUA through the focal points identified in this meeting.

Founded in 1979, INU is known as a university with a long and prestigious history in Incheon province and in Korea in general. INU has many years of experience in training and guiding international students, many of whom are Vietnamese students. VNUA believes that this precious partnership will bring long-term benefits to both universities in the field of training and INU will be a reliable destination for Vietnamese students who have the passion in South Korea.
