On September 5, 2025, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), in collaboration with the Center for Education Accreditation, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-CEA), held the opening ceremony of the official survey for accreditation of undergraduate programs at VNUA.

Attending the opening ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Toan, Deputy Director and Chair of the Education Quality Accreditation Council, VNU-CEA, who also serves as a standing member; on the side of the external evaluation team, there were 14 members and 2 supervisors, led by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Former Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, as Head of the team.

On behalf of VNUA, attendees included Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan Party Secretary, VNUA president, Prof. Tran Duc Vien, Chairman of the University’s Science and Training Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Huyen, Standing Deputy Party Secretary, Vice Chairman in charge of the University Council, and Vice President of the University; the University’s leaderships; deans, members of the Self-Evaluation Council, the Secretariat, lecturers, and students.

In her speech at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan stated: “In the context of the country’s vigorous implementation of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025, of the Party Central Committee on Breakthroughs in Education and Training Development, particularly in higher education, the work of accreditation and quality assurance has become increasingly urgent. At the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 academic year, the General Secretary remarked very important directives, emphasizing the need to enhance education quality, prioritize the training of high-quality human resources, and foster science, technology, and innovation to meet the country’s rapid and sustainable development requirements. This also serves as a major orientation for the university to continue striving and affirming its pioneering role in education, research, and social service.”

With the goal of improving training quality and meeting society’s demand for high-quality human resources, the university places special emphasis on educational quality assurance and accreditation. To date, the University has had 20 programs accredited, including 10 programs meeting the AUN-QA standards and 10 programs meeting the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET). These achievements demonstrate the university’s seriousness, determination, and continuous efforts. Based on the accreditation results, the university has boldly innovated curricula, improved teaching methodologies, and enhanced research capacity to better meet the learning, research, and entrepreneurial needs of students and trainees.

Honored to welcome the external evaluation team to conduct the accreditation assessment, Prof. Dr. Lan emphasized that this is an important event for the university in general and for its specialized faculties in particular. Through the external evaluation, the team members will provide the university with an objective perspective on the strengths and areas for improvement of its programs from the viewpoint of leading experts in educational quality assurance. The results of the evaluation will help the university continue improving its curricula to further enhance training quality.

She also affirmed the university’s readiness, cooperation and support to the external evaluation team in order to successfully complete its work.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Toan, Deputy Director of VNUA CEA at his opening remarks called on the university and relevant units to cooperate closely with the external evaluation team so that they can fully complete all the evaluation requirements and procedures at VNUA.

Assoc. Prof. Dr  Toan reaffirmed the Center’s commitment to adhering to proper procedures and ensuring objectivity and fairness. He noted that while recognizing the university’s strengths and outstanding advantages, the external evaluation team will assess the programs based on the standards set by the MOET and provide recommendations for quality improvement for the eight programs under review at VNUA.

During the official survey, the external evaluation team will review supporting documents and conduct activities such as online interviews with relevant stakeholders, surveys to gather feedback from the University community, and site visits to verify the information presented in the self-assessment report. Based on these activities, the team will evaluate the programs and provide recommendations to support the University in improving and further enhancing the quality of its training programs.

The official survey will take place from September 4 to September 9, 2025.

Prior to this, on August 26, 2025, VNUA in collaboration VNU-CEA conducted a preliminary survey in preparation for this official survey, in accordance with the program quality assessment procedures of the Ministry of Education and Training.

To date, VNUA has successfully undergone re-accreditation of its institutional quality according to the standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training; successfully accredited 10 programs under the AUN-QA standards of the ASEAN University Network; and successfully accredited 10 programs under the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training.

After being recognized as meeting the institutional quality standards with 94.56% of criteria satisfied, the University has continued to continuously improve and enhance the quality of education and training. Accordingly, the University has completed the self-assessment of eight programs in accordance with the MOET’s standards for quality assessment of higher education programs.

In line with the University’s development strategy for 2021–2030, with a vision toward 2050, the University developed the 2024–2025 plan to implement self-assessment and external evaluation for eight programs, striving to achieve the set targets in 2025, with 50% of undergraduate programs completing self-assessment, and aiming for 100% of undergraduate programs to complete self-assessment by 2030.
